Pranab Mukherjee Legacy Foundation is a trust set up by his daughter Ms. Sharmistha Mukherjee along with other likeminded people to carry forward the legacy of Shri Pranab Mukherjee and strengthening the core values that shaped the political life of Shri Mukherjee in his long years of public service spanning over five decades.

Throughout his life, Shri Mukherjee revered the system and institutions of parliamentary democracy and the values enshrined in the Constitution of India. Parliament was his temple and Constitution was his sacred text.

He worked dedicatedly towards financial inclusion and firmly believed that India’s own growth was closely tied to regional coordination and cooperation with the South Asian and SE Asian countries. In his long political career holding various ministerial charges including those of External Affairs, Finance, Commerce and others, he worked towards institutionalizing, facilitating and formalizing frameworks aimed at creating a conducive environment of peace and prosperity in the region in which India would play a key role.

During his Presidential years, Shri Mukherjee placed major emphasis on importance of higher education in India and the pivotal role India could play by enhancing its research and innovation capabilities.

Above all he was a firm believer in the doctrine of a bi-partisan national consensus on issues of national interest.

PMLF aims to focus on these five crucial areas which are significant for further development of our nation.

Currently the board of advisers consists of Shri Shekhar Dutt (Former Governor), Prof. Dinesh Singh (Former VC of Delhi University) and Prof. Anil Gupta (Former head of IIM Ahmedabad). We propose to further increase the numbers of advisers to include senior academicians and field experts who may guide the foundation in its future endeavours.
